Art, Music, Scotia Fusion

It’s been a while. I have been so busy with music, that I have not had much time for art. I’m working on a few pieces within a series that I’ve dubbed “Mini Maritime Mainly Monochromatic”. As usual it’s a series of six pieces. This series does not just feature Nova Scotia, it also ventures a bit of other Maritime provinces.
Now that the spring music recitals are finished, I’m preparing to go to an Art Residency program in late August on Brier Island in Nova Scotia. I am really looking forward to this as it gives me a chance to seriously work on art without being distracted by music. Not that I mind being distracted by music, but my art needs more serious time.
But, before I leave for the Residency, the new music group that I’m in ‘Scotia Fusion’, will be performing a short gig on Wednesday, August 12th at 12:15pm at First United Church, 711 Prince St., Truro, BC. First United advertises it as Long & McQuade music teachers – there will be three of us (so my name is featured), each doing about 15 minutes of music. So, for my 15 minutes, I’m showcasing three tunes from Scotia Fusion. The concert is free, so I hope to see you there.
